In 2018, 57 men were arrested on false charges without evidence. Two years later, as communications officer at TIERs, I led a public awareness campaign to spotlight the case and mobilise public support for their acquittal. The campaign’s hashtag generated thousands of tweets, trended as the number 1 topic on Twitter in Nigeria, and spread across Instagram and Facebook, with hundreds of people posting the campaign materials. The campaign successfully met its goals: raising awareness and putting pressure on the court. The case was struck out shortly after.
